Welcome to D & S Retrievers.
We are glad you stopped in for a visit. We are located in Berks County in Southeastern Pennsylvania. We are not a kennel. Our own dogs are well socialized and share time in our home as part of our family and our hunting partners and/or are a part of our foster program. Raising, training and hunting Labrador Retrievers is a major part of our lives.
Our labs are carefully selected for temperament, trainability, intelligence, drive and great looks. A lot of thought, careful planning, and research goes into each breeding. Our program is geared towards quality. We do everything possible to ensure that our litters will produce puppies that are structurally and genetically sound. All dogs in our breeding program have OFA Fair, Good or Excellent Hips, OFA Normal Elbows and are CAER/CERF certified.
At D&S Retrievers we have chocolate, black and yellow Labrador Retrievers. We do not support the breeding of "silver" labs. Our pups are born and raised in our home. They stay in our home till they are 3-4 weeks old. They are then moved to our larger air-conditioned/heated puppy area. Pups are handled on a daily basis and are very well socialized by children, young adults, and adults alike. Pups are exposed to various sights and sounds (radio played 24/7, vacuum cleaner, shop vac, garage noises, etc) and have plenty of play time in our outside, fenced turf area.
Pups come with a 27-month health guarantee that covers hips and elbows. Pups have dewclaws removed by our vet, wormed three times at 3, 5 & 7 weeks of age, receive 6-week vaccination, and at 7 weeks of age are vet checked and receive a health certificate stating they are healthy and ready to go home at 8 weeks of age. Pups are fed Purina Pro Plan Chicken & Rice Puppy food.
Since the Covid Pandemic we are permitting new family visits when puppies are around six weeks old. We post weekly photos/videos of the litters on our Facebook page. We do not ship puppies at this time. Puppies cannot leave our home until they are eight weeks old.
