In August of 2006, after 28 years of working at the local battery company, I decided to retire to devote my attention to training and breeding labs. Because of my flexible schedule, I was able to train nearly everyday.
I started training retrievers by training my own dog using books and videos. Over the years I have learned many new techniques that a retriever needs to be a good companion and hunting partner. I have had many mentors along the way and I give kudos to all of them. They have all made a HUGE impact in our lives with their extensive knowledge of breeding and training labrador retrievers. In August 2009, I began working and training with Randy Bohn of Rammin' Retrievers. Again, I've learned an enormous amount of information from him. We have been members of various clubs in previous years.
EFFECTIVE 2018, we no longer offer hunting training programs and are focusing more on our breeding program.
I am an avid outdoorsman and I enjoy all types of hunting. My wife, Deb, retired on June 2, 2023 from our local university and is the salesperson and financial officer for D & S Retrievers....PLUS she keeps our household running smoothly.

My name is Kristina Newton, but you can call me Tina and I am the Kennel Manager for D&S Retrievers. I am from the Kutztown area and recently graduated from Kutztown University with a business management degree. While in college I bartended at a local restaurant where I made great connections and met some fantastic people including Scott & Deb. In my free time I enjoy spending time outside or with my family. While growing up I have always loved dogs and had Labrador Retrievers. I am excited for my future at D&S Retrievers providing quality Labradors for you and your family!
